THEME PARK INFORMATION

Busy Days: Attendance patterns in the parks are fairly predictable. Families usually travel to and from Walt Disney World on weekends. They start the week at the Magic Kingdom, followed by EPCOT, and later Disney Studios. The crowds are lighter on the weekends. The newest park, Animal Kingdom is also busy at the beginning of the week.

Unofficial Hours: It is not unusual for the parks to open at least thirty minutes early; however, Disney does not confirm unofficial hours.

Same Day Readmission: On leaving a park, have your hand stamped at the exit, and you may enter the park again later in the day. With a park-hopper ticket, you may enter another park by showing your hand stamp and your admission ticket.

Extra Magic Hours: Guests who stay at a Disney resort hotel may enter parks when they are closed to others. Each day, one of the parks opens either an hour earlier or remains open two hours later for Disney resort guests. During these Extra Magic Hours, guests can visit some of the most popular attractions with only a nominal wait.

Lines After FastPass: The introduction of the FastPass has changed the lines at these attractions. Instead of one line, these attractions have three lines: FastPass, Singles, and Stand By. On busy days, and most days are, the FastPass line is not really instant access. In fact, it is a noticeable wait. If you don't have a FastPass, you can use either the Singles line or Stand By. Unless you must absolutely sit together, forget the Stand By line - it could take hours, really. At Test Track, a sign warns that they seat a group from the Stand By line about every five minutes; that's twelve groups per hour. With a Stand By line that is stretching out the door, you have dozens of groups ahead of you. The Singles line, on the other hand, is often moving faster than the FastPass line.

To avoid the long lines, your best strategy is still to arrive at the parks early, before they officially open, and visit the most popular attractions as quickly as you can. When the lines get bad, opt for the Singles line.
